SFU Community Trust to Examine Sustainable Energy Options at UniverCity
As part of its commitment to sustainable development, Simon Fraser Community Trust is partnering with Corix Utilities to examine opportunities for the development of a sustainable energy system at UniverCity. The feasibility study will explore options for providing heat and domestic hot water to new housing projects planned for the UniverCity community.

UniverCity Wins Two Major Awards in One Week
Over the past week the SFU Community Trust has been honoured not once but twice for UniverCity, the innovative residential community that is developing adjacent to Simon Fraser University (SFU) on Burnaby Mountain. In two separate events, one in Ottawa and the other in Dongguan, China, UniverCity was awarded for initiatives that address affordable housing in the Vancouver area, as well as for the overall planning and execution of UniverCity as a model of sustainable community building. Planning Magazine Profile of UniverCity
UniverCity is profiled in Planning Magazine as the recipient of the American Planning Institute’s (APA’s) inaugural National Planning Excellence Award for Innovation in Green Community Planning. Nesters Announces Store to Open at UniverCity
UniverCity is partnering with Nesters Market to open a community grocery store, SFU Community Trust announced today. The store, Nester’s ninth in BC, is set to open in Spring 2009. Download press release (PDF 4.3MB)

New School Approved for UniverCity
The Province has supported a new elementary school on Burnaby Mountain near Simon Fraser University that will serve the growing number of families now living close to campus, Burquitlam MLA Harry Bloy announced today. Developed through a partnership between the SFU Community Trust, the Burnaby Board of Education, the City of Burnaby and the Province the school is set to open in September 2010.
